PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening feeder for bale-opened cotton having improved cotton-opening efficiency. ;SOLUTION: This opening feeder for bale-opened cotton is provided with an opening mechanism 10 moving along a rail laid slantly upward relative to the bale-opened cotton on a transfer conveyor and opening the transferred cotton slantly from the upper surface downward. The raw cotton opened by the opening mechanism 10 is transferred to the subsequent step. The forwarding distance of the transferred bale-opened cotton relative to the opening mechanism is detected, the position of the raw cotton and the length and position of the opening site of the raw cotton are measured beforehand and the raw cotton is opened by selecting the reciprocating span and the opening position of the opening mechanism 10 according to the transfer of the raw cotton.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
