REWRITING METHOD FOR REWRITABLE NON-VOLATILE MEMORY AND METHOD/SYSTEM FOR RESTORING FAULT OF APPLICATION PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the hang-up of a system owing to an error occurring during the operation of a program and to restore a fault occurring during the execution of a buried software application by changing the index value of a first segment to a value showing validity when writing is judged to be completed. ;SOLUTION: A processor 204 operates so that a value for an invalid index is written into the index part of a non-volatile memory 208. Then, the processor 204 gives a command and an application program is written into the application sector of the non-volatile memory 208. A previous program stored in the application sector is deleted and it is rewritten into a new application program. An inquiry whether a program operation is succeeded or not is given. When it is detected to be not terminated, the application program is judged to be invalid and the value of the index is changed to that showing validity when it is detected to be terminated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
