AL ALLOY HOLLOW FRAME MEMBER FOR VEHICLE BODY FRAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Al alloy hollow frame member for a vehicle body frame which is capable of increasing the collision energy absorption efficiency. ;SOLUTION: A forward tubular part 7 of a hollow frame member 5 is provided with an annular end face which is a receiving surface 9 of the collision load on a forward end. In the forward tubular part 7, the transverse sectional area (s) is gradually increased from a base end side to the receiving surface 9, and the wall thickness is gradually reduced front the base end side to the receiving surface 9. The forward tubular part 7 can be stably collapsed in an early stage from the receiving surface 9 in the collision.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
