PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject double salt consisting of a poly phosphoric acid melamine/melam/melem double salt obtained by mixing melamine with phosphoric acid, reacting and then burning at a high temperature, excellent in heat resistance, water proof property, crushing property, dispersing property and flowing property and used for a flame retardant, etc. ;SOLUTION: This polyphosphoric acid melamine/melam/melem double salt having 0.01-0.10 g/100 ml solubility to water (25°C), showing 4.0-7.0 pH as a 10 wt.% aqueous slurry (25°C) also having 0.05-1.00 mol melamine, 0.30-0.60 mol melum and 0.05-0.80 mol melem ratio based on 1 mol phosphorus atom, excellent in heat resistance, water proof property, also powder characteristics such as a crushing property, a dispersing property and a flowing property, and useful as a flame retardant agent capable of fitting to various uses, is obtained by mixing in a ration of 1 mol phosphoric acid with 2.0-4.0 melamine at 0-330°C temperature for reacting and then burning the obtained product at 340-450°C temperature for 0.1-30 hr.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
