PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a document preparing environment capable of smoothly proceeding with succeeding input/conversion/edition operation by detecting a misinput position in an inputted character string without requiring a specific key and accurately correcting the misinput position in accordance with the setting of a correction mode. SOLUTION: When a character string to be converted is inputted through an input part 21, a control part 22 starts an automatic misinput correction part 23 at the input timing of an edition key, detects a misinput in the inputted character string and displays the misinput character string by a specific display format through an output part 26. When KANA (Japanese syllabary) /KANJI (Chinese character) conversion is instructed, a control part 22 corrects the misinput character string by the correction part 23 and then executes KANA/KANJI conversion by the use of a KANA/KANJI conversion part 25. Thus the misinput part in the inputted character string is detected by using the input of the edition key as a trigger and displayed by the specific display format. Thereby a user can check the detection of the misinput during the input (before conversion).
