PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the breakage of the toes of a piano and fall of the piano in the event of an earthquake. ;SOLUTION: The grand piano is provided with an auxiliary toe 20 arriving at a floor surface from the rear surface of a piano body 5 part in the right direction of a rear toe 4 viewed from a keyboard side 1. The piano is provided with a connecting member 21 for integrally connecting and fixing this auxiliary toe 20 and the rear toe 4. The piano is provided with diagonal reinforcing arms 30, 32, 32 for connecting the middles of a left front tone 2, a right front toe 3 and the rear toe 4 and the rear surface of the piano body 5. The respective reinforcing arms 30 to 32 are formed of square steel pipes and have flanges 35 to be coupled to the rear surface of the piano body 5 at their top ends. The arms have curved plates 34 coupled across the two surfaces in the mid-way of the toes of the piano having a square section at their bottom ends. The auxiliary toe 20 has a length adjusting means at its bottom end. The bottom ends of the front toes 2, 3, the rear toe 4 and the auxiliary toe 20 are provided with means 40 for suppressing the slip with the floor surface. These means 40 for suppressing the slip consist of housing parts made of steel plates for housing the bottom ends of the respective toes of the toes 2 to 4 and auxiliary toe 20 of the piano and annular rubber bases which are placed on the floor surfaces and support the housing parts by floating the bottom thereby from the floor surface.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
