PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic method and an electrophotographic device by which the potential distribution of an electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of a photoreceptor, for example, the potential shape of one dot of the digital latent image can be accurately measured and a high-definition image can be formed by controlling respective electrophotographic processes according to the state of the electrostatic latent image. ;SOLUTION: By this measuring method, the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface 102 of the photoreceptor is measured by a potential sensor 103 relatively moved by approaching the surface 102 on which the electrostatic latent image is formed so as to generate a dielectric current by the potential change of the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface 102. Then, the sensor 103 is provided with a detection part whose width in a relative moving direction with respect to the surface 102 is narrower than that of the potential change of the electrostatic latent image which is measured and whose cross-section is formed so that it is not provided with an edge. By integrating and analyzing the dielectric current detected by the sensor 103, the potential state of the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface 102 is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
