PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect the optical fiber of a dummy tape core and the optical fiber of an optical tape core with high accuracy by a method wherein a guide pin is inserted into a guide hole and tip parts of respective optical fibers which are inserted into precision circular holes in respective tape holders are brought into contact. ;SOLUTION: Precision circular holes whose inside diameter is equal to every diameter of optical fibers f1 of a dummy tape core T1 are formed in a tape holder 1, and guide pins 4 are installed so as to protrude on a connecting end face 3. Guide holes 8 into which the guide pins 4 are fitted closely are formed in the connecting end face 7 of a tape holder 5 whose structure is the same as that of the tape holder 1. Tip parts of the optical fibers f1 inserted into the precision circular holes are put in order on the connecting end face 3, and the dummy tape core T1 is fixed to the tape holder 1. In addition. tip parts of optical fibers (f) of an optical fiber core T inserted into precision circular holes are put in order, they are made to protrude, by a very small length, from the connecting end face 7, and the optical tape core T is placed on the tape holder 5. Then, the guide pins 4 are inserted into the guide holes 8, both tape holders 1, 5 are brought close, the tip parts of the optical fibers f1, (f) are brought into contact via a bonding agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
