PURPOSE:To make suitably raw material distribution in radius direction in a furnace according to the operational condition by controlling discharging velocity of the charging raw material from upper hopper to lower hopper and also variation with the lapse of time of average grain diameter of the raw material discharged from the lower hopper. CONSTITUTION:By using a bell-less type furnace top charging apparatus, whose center axes of the upper and lower hoppers 2, 3 are mutually matched up to center axis of the blast furnace 10, the raw material from the charging belt conveyor 1 is charged into the upper hopper 2 and temporarily stored. Successively, upper seal valve 7 in the upper hopper 2 is opened, and while controlling flow rate of the raw material to 3.8ton/m2.sec discharging velocity with an upper flow rate control valve 6, the raw material is charged into the lower hopper 3 and the upper seal valve 7 is chosed. Further, lower seal valve 9 in the lower hopper 3 is opened, and while controlling flow rate through a lower flow rate control valve 8, the raw material is discharged and supplied into the furnace with a swinging chute 4. By this method, the distribution of raw material in the radius direction in the blast furnace can be suitably varied according to the operation and the stable operation in the blast furnace is executed.
