PURPOSE: To assemble a sodium/sulfur battery by using an anode vessel whereon a thermally sprayed coating having a large effect on finish and a control of the quality and being excellent in a surface state is formed and to obtain the sodium/sulfur battery having an excellent and stable performance, by determining the surface state of the thermally sprayed coating in a nondestructive manner and instantaneously. CONSTITUTION: An inspection method of the surface of a thermally sprayed coating wherein an oxidized state of the surface of the thermally sprayed coating 2 formed inside an anode vessel 1 for a sodium/sulfur battery is judged from a contact resistance of the surface of the thermally sprayed coating 2, on the occasion of inspection of the surface of the thermally sprayed coating inside the anode vessel. An assembling method of the sodium/sulfur battery wherein the anode vessel 1 is judged to be suitable for the sodium/sulfur battery in the case when the contact resistance of the surface of the thermally sprayed coating 2 is a prescribed one or below after the thermally sprayed coating 2 is formed inside the anode vessel 1 for the sodium/sulfur battery and the sodium/sulfur battery is assembled by using this anode vessel 1.
