The tool has an elongate body (1) upon which a number of rows of teeth are located. The sharp points of the front teeth (2a) in each row are located outside the maximum turning circle of the front end (11) of the tool (1). A tool for removing the unwanted parts from the neck region of slaughtered poultry comprises an elongated body rotatable about its central axis, provided with a blunt front end section and two or more rows of teeth oriented predominantly in the forwards direction and arranged one after the other in the axial direction over the tangential surface of the body. At least the front tooth in each row has a sharp point positioned to the rear of the blunt end section. The sharp points of the front teeth are located outside the maximum turning circle of the front end section. An Independent claim is also included for a coring machine, comprising a number of the above tools linked to a drive mechanism for rotating them and moving them in an axial direction.
