WOUND COVERING MATERIAL CONTAINING SILK FIBROIN AND SILK SERICIN AS THE MAIN COMPONENTS AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

Novel wound covering material which has bio-compatibility, flexibility and resistance to infection, namely, the characteristics essentially required of wound covering material, is excellent particularly in the flexibility and water absorption properties, promotes smooth cure for defects in the skin and does not cause peeling of the skin under regeneration when detached from the skin. This material is in the form of a noncrystalline film with a degree of crystallization of less than 10 % or a powdery form each containing fibroin and sericin as the main components. It is appropriate to add remedies for wounds to the above covering material.
