FIELD: concentration of magnesium silicate raw materials, in particular, olivine-containing ores; applicable in production of basic refractories. SUBSTANCE: method includes grinding of olivine-containing ore to size within 7.0 mm; dry magnetic separation in low-gradient magnetic field with intensity of not more than 1000 Oe with transfer of olivine concentrate to nonmagnetic fraction. Produced nonmagnetic fraction is subjected to magnetic separation in high-gradient magnetic field with intensity of 1000-12,000 Oe with transfer of olivine concentrate to magnetic fraction. Ground ore prior to magnetic separation may be separated by size to provide for better conditions for its further concentration. Fine classes may be withdrawn from the process. Magnetic fraction obtained in low-gradient field and nonmagnetic fraction obtained in high-gradient field may be subjected to additional grinding with subsequent magnetic separation for obtaining concentrates based on impurity components, in particular, magnetite and sungulite.
