Ultrasonic breast tumour therapy process

The process uses a container (20) to receive the breast (10) to be treated. The container is filled with a coupling fluid (22) for effective coupling of the propagated ultrasonic waves provided by an ultrasonic transducer (28). The breast is held against a fixing membrane (15) by a compression cushion (11), with the ultrasonic waves directed at an angle of 50 degrees or less to the internal body plane.
