The invention relates to a system for broadcasting digital signals in which the same source signal is capable of being transmitted to a receiver by means of at least two antennae, each corresponding to one transmission channel, in which system a specific processing module (71), called time diversity generation module, is associated with at least one of the said channels, the said module (71) artificially inducing a controlled and time-variable modification of the signal carried by the said channel in such a way that, for a receiver which is immobile in space, the said combined useful signal has a time-variable frequency response, the said modification furthermore being such that it does not prevent recovery of a useful signal corresponding to the said source signal in a receiver from the signal carried by any single one of the said channels. Thus, the signals undergo a complementary processing for artificial time diversity generation, in such a way that a receiver at rest receives a signal, the transfer characteristics of which vary with time.
