The kite comprises two wings (12, 13) symmetrical about the kite longitudinal median axis and direction control cables (30,40). It is provided with means for decreasing or increasing the resistance to the wind of one or other wings under control of the cables. The wings are curved by means of wing tensioners (25, 26) which decrease or increase the resistance to the wind by more curving or flattening of one or other wings under the control of the direction controls. The wings are formed from a fabric (10) mounted on a frame (20). The frame has two lateral wooden strips (22, 23) and the controls are constituted by two cables acting respectively on the two wooden strips in order to displace one or other relative to the kite longitudinal axis.
