Method of purifying the carbon dioxide gas generated 1995 by the industrial adapted, in particular by fermentation, and structures employed for this purpose

Carbon dioxide is purified by passing successively through several layers (1-5) of different adsorbents which remove different impurities and are located in one vessel, such two vessels being connected in parallel by valves to enable each to purify the gas in turn while the other is being regenerated, to maintain a continuous supply of purified gas. Also claimed are vessels containing such layers of adsorbents, designed to achieve optimum efficiency, and a pair of such vessels with connecting valves which enable one to be on line while the other is being generated. Preferably the downstream layer (5) removes any residual impurities from the gas. Gas flows during adsorption and regeneration are restricted to prevent agitation and mixing of the adsorbents in different layers.
