The pile (2) of printed card packs (3,4,5) is located in a storage magazine (1) extending above a peg conveyor (6). The upper face of the upper card and the lower face of the lower card of each pack of cards are coated with a sliding glazed layer which facilitates the separation of the packs from the pile. The magazine comprises height adjusters (9,10) and has in alignment with the conveyor an inlet slot (11) for the conveyor peg and an outlet slot (12) for a pack of cards pushed by the peg. The card packs can be automatically separated in a less time than would be required manually.
