Brief description of a metallic piece by deposition of a layer of nickel, containing 5 to 20 of phosphorus

A piece of metal is coated with nickel containing 5-20% phosphorous by using it as the cathode in an electrolytic bath containing nickel sulphate and phosphorised oxacid at 50-80 deg C, using a platinised titanium anode and a current density of 20-40 A/dm2. Also claimed is a metal piece so coated, the coating exhibiting a Vickers hardness of 600 HV.
