A dispersing or fluidising agent comprises 60-80 wt.% cationic polymer and 20-40 wt.% phosphonic acid derivative of formula R1-N(CH2-P(O)(OH)2)2, or (R4-CH2)(R5)-C(R6)- P(O)(OH)2 in which R1 = -CH2-CH2-OH, or CH2- P(O)(OH)2, or -R2-N(R3)-CH2- P(O)(OH)2 in which R2 = 2-6C alkene; R3 = -CH2-CH2-OH, or CH2-P(O)(OH)2, or CH2-CH2-N(CH2-P(O)(OH)2)2; R4 = H, or -CH2-COOH; R5 = -OH or -COOH; and R6 = -P(O)(OH)2 or -CH2COOH. Also claimed is method for production of a concentrated aqueous suspension of mineral material, preferably calcium carbonate, using a small amount of the agent.
