PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily remove humic matter from humic matter-containing water at a low cost by adding a cationic surfactant to humic matter along with the surfactant from humic matter-containing water. ;SOLUTION: When a cationic surfactant is added to water containing humic matter 1 having both of hydrophilic and oleophilic properties to remove humic matter 1, an anionic functional group of humic matter 1 and a cationic functional group of the cationic surfactant 2 are electrically bonded to form inverse micellae 3. Since these inverse micellae are insoluble in water and become large in size, they can be separated from water by a filtering or adsorbing means. As a separation means, an adsorbing means using solid beads comprising a hydrophobic org. polymer is pref. designated and, for example, by passing inverse micellae-containing water through a column packed with a solid comprising a hydrophobic org. polymer, they can be adsorbed and removed within a short time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
