METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DECIDING EXTERNAL CHARACTER CODE OF KANJI AND MEDIUM STORING PROGRAM FOR THE SAME METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten external character decision processing time. SOLUTION: Concerning the external character code discriminating method for Kanji, a high-order one-byte decision table 21 having data, which show whether it is the high-order one-byte code of an external character or not concerning all the high-order one-byte codes of a Kanji code expressed with two bytes, while arranging the high-order one-byte codes in ascending order and a low-order one-byte decision table 22 having data, which show whether it is the low-order one-byte code of the external character or not concerning all the low-order one-byte codes, while arranging the low-order one-byte codes in ascending order are generated. The inputted Kanji code is divided into high- order one byte and low-order one byte and while referring to the high-order one-byte decision table 21 concerning high-order one byte or referring to the low-order one-byte decision table 22 concerning low-order one byte, on the basis of at least any one reference result, it is decided whether the inputted Kanji code is an external character or not.
