PURPOSE:To form a tough and excellent coating film of ground economically and safely by coating ceramic sizing boards with an queous ground treating agent containing a synthetic resin emulsion and water glass, followed by heating. CONSTITUTION:(A) A synthetic resin emulsion obtained by subjecting a vinyl monomer to emulsion copolymerization by using a carboxyl group-containing water-soluble or water-disperside polymer and/or a saly thereof as an emulsifying agent is blended with (B) a water glass comprising a concentrated aqueous solution of an alkali silicate shown by the formula, Na2O.SiO2 ((n) is 2-4) or formula, K2O.nSiO2 to give an aqueous ground treating agent. Ceramic sizing boards are coated with the treating agent and heated at about 100-120 deg.C for about 2-5 minutes to treat ground.
