PURPOSE: To quickly issue certificates by a device wherein certifying contents are printed at a first printing section, printing for certifying is performed at a second printing section, and a print head is made to be on standby by keeping an optimum clearance between the head and a platen before a paper is conveyed at the second printing section. ;CONSTITUTION: When a person who requires issuance of a certificate inserts an ID card into a read section 11, the read section 11 reads the ID card. After a password inputted from an input section is confirmed by a central control device through a control section 15 and a communication section 16, printing of a prescribed form is performed at a first printing section 1. A paper after printing is conveyed to a second printing section 2 by a paper conveying mechanism 3 and a certification seal of embossed printing is printed. In the second printing section 2, a print head is moved to a position at a predetermined distance from an end of a platen and is in a state to maintain an optimum printing clearance. When the paper is conveyed to a printing position, printing is performed immediately on the paper on the platen by the print head.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
