PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately set initial tension of a belt of a belt driving device to a specified suitable value while eliminating the necessity to use a large spring. ;SOLUTION: In this belt tension adjusting method for adjusting tension of a belt 42 by pressing a tension roller 1 against the belt 42 of a belt driving device 4, the tension roller 1 is supported on a support mechanism 2 in which an elastic member 23 is incorporated, the elastic member 23 is deformed by reactive force applied from the belt 42 to the tension roller 1 when the tension roller 1 is pressed against the belt 42, and the tension roller 1 is set in the position in which the deformation amount of the elastic member 23 becomes the specified amount.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
