PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tread width varying mechanism of a new tea plantation managing machine furnished with grooved wheels, traveling on rail, capable of adjusting the spacing between wheels in lateral direction, i.e., the tread width of the tea plantation managing machine traveling on rail in high accuracy without causing backlash and enabling the stable management of tea plantation without generating e.g. the strain of the machine body even on a slope. ;SOLUTION: A leg post frame 5 supporting a rail R is rotatably attached to a bestriding frame 4 positioned on a tea ridge A in a manner to enable the change of the lower end of the leg post frame 5 according to the width of the rails. The bestriding frame 4 is provided on the upper face with an equalizer ring 11 attached in a state rotatable on a vertical axis.
