PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of dioxin during the incineration of sewage sludge. SOLUTION: Undried sewage sludge stored in a sewage sludge storage tank 2 is supplied to a dryer 4 to be dried and the dried sludge is supplied to a rotary kiln 5 to be burnt and, when the temp. of the exhaust gas of the rotary kiln 5 detected by a detector ST is 850 deg.C or higher, a part of the undried sewage sludge from the sewage sludge storage tank 2 is supplied to the rotary kiln 5 along with the supply of the dried sludge to be sprinkled over the burning dried sludge to burn the dried sludge and the sprinkled undried sewage sludge.
