PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic mail generating method which can compose an electronic mail consisting of words and phrases suitable for the opposite party of the electronic mail. SOLUTION: The electronic mail ID of the sender of a received electronic mail is searched for in an address book memory (STEP21). When the searched electronic mail ID is existent in the address book memory (YES in STEP22), the classification of the electronic mail ID is read out (STEP23). The number (classification number) corresponding to the classification read out of the memory in STEP23 is read out and reply mail words and phrases corresponding to the classification number are read out of a reply mail word and phrase memory (STEP24). When only a single word or phrase is read out (YES in STEP25), the reply mail word or phrase is displayed at the content display part of an electronic mail transmission screen (STEP26).
