Ball retaining device, typically net 2, is connected to strap 15 via elastic ribbon 10 which is attachable to the limb of a user. Provision is made for adjusting the effective length of ribbon 10. With a ball in net 2 a user can attach strap 15 to his/her wrist and kick or throw it away from his/her body.
