SPONGY DRESSINGS FOR SUPERFICIAL WOUNDS AND METHOD OF MAKING SUCH DRESSINGS

1. Spongy dressings for surface wounds, especially those infected with pathogenic microorganisms, are prepared on the basis of collagen or polyurethane sponge. They are characterised in that they consist of a collagen or polyurethane tampon with pore size under 0.5 mm and at least one cytokine in a protective buffer solution. The cytokine concentration in the dressing is at the level of 0.1-50 μg/cm2. 5. The method of producing spongy dressings for surface wounds, especially those infected with pathogenic micro-organisms, characterised in that a 1-6 mm thick collagen or polyurethane tampon with pore size under 0.5 mm is saturated with at least one cytokine in a protective buffer solution with pH 4-7.8. The solution contains substances, which protect cytokines against denaturation and/or irreversible adsorption. Then, the tampon is dried and packed into a laminated foil wrapping, closed by heat sealing. It may be subjected to sterilisation by radiation. The dressings are stored at the temperature of 0 - 8 degrees Celsius.
