The aesthetic device for footdrop, to be used on regular or custom-made shoes, high up to the ankle, has the purpose to correct the 'steppage' coming from the deficit of foot-dorsiflexion. This happens in muscular disease (myotonic muscular dystrophy, distal muscular dystrophy, facio-scapulo-humeral muscular dystrophy), in neurogenic muscular disorders (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, distal spinal muscular atrophy, progressive muscular atrophy Aran-Duchenne type, post-polio syndrome etc.) some cases of Hemiplegia. The device has a back support in the shoe, to keep the ankle at 90°, and a pad, to protect the Achilles tendon and to permit the physiological plantarflexion. It is more aesthetic than ankle-foot-orthoses being not visible outside the shoes as the AFOs do. It allows a physiological perspiration, it doesn't irritate the skin, it doesn't cause ulcers, it doesn't squeak as the AFOs can do.
