Hydrodynamic retarder for motor vehicle has control system with regulating valve to deliver contents of pressurized accumulator to retarder, and which controls both emptying and replenishment of accumulator
The control system for the retarder has a regulating valve which delivers the contents of an air pressurized accumulator through the high pressure side to the retarder, and which apart from the emptying the accumulator also controls its replenishment. The regulating valve has a piston loaded at one end by a pretensioning spring and pressurized at the other end by a variable control pressure present in a control line. Along its circumference the piston has a number of annular slotted cut-outs located in radial planes and which communicate with hydraulic lines via cut-outs in the piston housing.
