The motor vehicle brake has a hydrodynamic retarder with a rotor and stator connected to inner and outer circuits for a fluid and a heat exchanger (8). The outer circuit (3) has a throttle (5) which is adjustable in dependent on the rotary speed of the retarder (1) with in a set operating parameter range. A feed valve (10) from a tank (9) also has a throttle (11).
