A formed catalyst containing Cu and oxygen-containing Ti compounds and produced with the addition of metallic Cu is used for the production of amines by the reaction of an alcohol, aldehyde or ketone with ammonia or an amine in the presence of hydrogen. Production of amines comprises the reaction of a primary or secondary alcohol, aldehyde or ketone with ammonia or a primary or secondary amine at an elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of H2 and a formed catalyst containing Cu and oxygen-containing Ti compounds and produced with the addition of metallic Cu.
