The seat includes a device (10) through which the head restraint is moved as the seat is moved, but the seat need only be moved in part for a practically complete displacement of the head restraint. The vehicle seat has a guide rail (12) fixed on the vehicle structure and a slide rail (13) movable on same. The guide rail has a U-shaped recess (15) open at the top to hold the sliding part (16) whose slide pin (16') moves in the slide carriage (14) of the slide rail. A Bowden cable (5) fixed on the sliding part operates the head restraint.
