The cylinder number of the engine is divisible by two. Each pair of cylinders forms a functional unit, where both cylinders are connected at a lower dead point by slits in the cylinders and a channel to an exhaust gas turbine, which is driven by exhaust gas at the end of the cylinder stroke. The pistons of one unit are longer than the piston stroke, are driven by a crank pin of the crankshaft. When one piston of a unit is at the end of a suction stroke, the other piston is at the end of a combustion stroke. The exhaust gas has two separate turbine wheels for the channel, which are fitted to a drive shaft to rotate in the same direction.
