The image reader has transport arrangement for transporting photographic, photosensitive material on which image is recorded so image passes first and second reading positions in succession. Second photometric system (38) reads image under photometric conditions determined by image data output by first photometric system (36). Loop zone (77) is arranged in transport path between photometric systems. Controller (42) operates photometric systems independently in state in which length of loop of photo-material lies in defined range. Independent claims are also included for an image processing system, an image reading method and an image processing method.
