Electrotherapy device for treating heart arrhythmia control circuitry for classifying heart rhythms which can be configured to match skill level of operator

Control circuitry (118) is able to classify measured heart rhythms into treatable or not treatable conditions. A treatable condition results in the arming of a shock delivery power supply and display of advise to an operator to shock the patient. The control circuitry can be reconfigured (26) to adjust the functionality of a classifier (28) to match the expected skill level of the operator. A defibrillation shock can be delivered to a patient via electrodes (140) which are also used to measure the heart rhythms which are analyzed via an ECG (146). Independent claim is also included for a method for optimizing shock delivery from a defibrillator to a patient.
