The switching fork (3) has an integral center formed part (10) at a point (10) lying between the formed parts (7,8) in the circumferential direction of the main axis (6-6), the part (10) to slide as shoe in the circumferential groove way with play (11) along the axial direction (6-6) so that shoe (10) and groove only make sliding contact with elastic deformation of the fork itself (3). Preferably the play is adjusted to make this contact at 150% switching or abuse forces and part (10) is arranged in a fork datum plane central to the axis (6-6) thus coinciding with the point (13) where switching forces are introduced. This datum plane (12) contains a switching rod (14) parallel to axis (6-6) whose end introduces the switching force as opposed to the second end of the rod (14) which is fixed to the main fork (3).
