Sheets discharged from the image forming system are conveyed to a pair of upper trays (33). The upper trays are moved apart to drop bundles of sheets onto a lower tray (34) once the sheets have been stapled. The upper trays are horizontally driven by motors to align the discharged sheets. The upper tray motors adjust movement distance and direction of the upper trays, the motors driving force is transmitted to the upper tray by belts. The lower tray is driven by a separate motor.
