The sewing machine, with a rotating upper shaft (1) to give the needles (Na,Nb) a reciprocating up and down movement, has a further shaft (5) with a rotary transmission gearing link to the upper shaft. The looper (K,K') is at the leading end of the second shaft (5) with a shuttle body mounted on the shaft. The looper has an opening (10b,12b) for the insertion of a lower thread bobbin or bobbin housing into the shuttle body. The opening is at the outer periphery section of the looper body, at the shaft side. The opening (10b,12b) at the looper body is linked to the inner side of the shuttle body, so that the lower thread bobbin or bobbin housing can be inserted into the shuttle body. The looper bodies (K,K') are in a pair with one rotating forwards and one rotating backwards. The sewing machine has a pair of needles (Na,Nb) and a matching and facing pair of looper bodies (K,K'). At the shuttle body pressers (23,24), the looper bodies (K,K') are parallel to the rotating loopers (10) in relation to the needle shafts.
