Flexible, automated specification checking for quality controls

A system and method for maintaining a network (12) of a plurality of radiation devices (20, 30, 40), such as radiation therapy devices with a linear accelerator. Automated specification checks and control of the network (12) of the radiation therapy devices facilitate an integrated analysis of the collected information and a system calibration. A network interface (24, 28) is provided for connecting the radiation devices to the network via special personal computers (PC) (17, 18, 19). Databases (16) of device history records and device specifications are maintained on a system calibration server (14) for each of the plurality of radiation devices. Dosimetry scanners (26) that are operable with the radiation devices (20) use a specialized PC (17) as a customer-user interface in communication with the server via the network (12) and a radiation device (20). The radiation devices (20) respond to the customer-user interface in order to run through an operating sequence, the dosimetry scanner (26) carrying out a series of tests. The radiation device (20) is thus automatically operated via the PC customer-user interface (17) in accordance with the series of tests carried out by the dosimetry scanner (26).
