The power supply for a computer monitor has a voltage increasing circuit (320) to provide 220v when connected to a 110v supply. Coupled to this is a power saving mode unit (330) that has a pair of power transistors (Q1,Q2) that are connected to the main power supply (310). When activated the voltage increasing circuit is isolated from the power supply.
