Device comprises an electric motor (35) for automatic movement of the lenses and an objective tube (14) that holds the lenses in a fixed position. Rings around the outside of the objective tube are used for its manual adjustment and a gear wheel provided to transmit the electric motor power for automatic adjustment. A coupling activation motor (37) is used to engage or disengage the gear wheel. A zoom switch is used to change between manual and automatic operation. Independent claims are made for variants of the objective tube device.
