The printer includes a frame within a housing with attached paper draw-in and feed-out channels formed by pairs of rollers. A printing unit is provided having a print head (33) and a colour tape cassette (34). A processing unit, eg with magnetic strip reader (18), and a paper cutter (23) are also included. The housing is divided into a base assembly (3) and an upper housing part (4) which may be lifted up. The upper part with an upper roller is fixed wrt the roller of the base assembly.
