A description is given of a process for manufacturing pneumatic tyres having a carcass extending between two bead rings and a belt (rigid breaker), arranged between the carcass and the tread. In this process, an untreated tyre (green-cover) is built up with the exclusive use of nonmetallic constituent parts and, in the course of the vulcanisation and moulding performed under the effect of heat and pressure, at least part of the required heat energy is introduced into the tyre in the form of microwave energy.
