Paper pulp is prepared by fractionation of vegetable lignocellulose material in a formic/acetic acid medium. Method for preparation of paper pulp from ligno-sugars and acetic acid comprises: mixing lignocellulose material from plants at 50 deg C in a formic/acetic acid mixture which contains at least 5 wt.% acetic acid; and separating the solid fraction consisting of paper pulp, from the organic phase in solution which contains notably formic and acetic acid, sugar monomers, soluble polymers and lignins from the original plant material.
