摘要

PURPOSE: To obtain in high yield the title compound to be used as e.g. a flame retardant for resins by allylation of bis-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dibromophenyl)sulfone using a highly hydrophilic quaternary onium salt as phase-transfer catalyst. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective compound can be obtained by reaction between (A) bis-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dibromophenyl)sulfone and an allyl halide in the presence of water, an organic solvent and an alkali using, as phase-transfer catalyst, a highly hydrophilic quaternary onium salt of the formula (R1 to R4 are each benzyl or ≤4C alkyl; Y is N or P; X is Cl, Br or HSO4) (e.g. tetramethylammonium chloride, benzyltrimethylammonium chloride). This process can omit filtration process having been considered as being industrially complicated, thereby attaining high purity as well as advantage in terms of cost.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
