PURPOSE: To reduce the cost and manufacture an alloy steel which is capable of obtaining products of good performance such as good wire drawability by manufacturing a clean low-oxygen alloy steel in a horizontal continuous casting method, and increasing the period of the continuous casting time. ;CONSTITUTION: The molten alloy steel in a melting furnace is transfered to a holding furnace 1 having a furnace wall consisting of a composite refractory of magnesia and alumina, a lid 2 having a good sealing property to shut off the oxygen from the atmospehre is placed thereupon, and the atmosphere within the furnace is displaced with the inert gas. Then, deoxidation is executed by charging the deoxidizer containing aluminum and calcium in the amount where aluminum is ≤0.5% and calcium is ≤0.2% of the molten alloy steel, and casting is started after holding the condition for more than 10 minutes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
