PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently recovering valuable metals by subjecting fused slag contg. specific metals at weight% within a specific range generated from municipal refuse incineration ashes to cooling, polarizing and magnetic separating. SOLUTION: Metal silicon is charged together with iron scrap and/or carbon (coke) into the municipal refuse incineration ashes or the molten slag thereof to form the alloy contg. 10 to 90wt.% copper, =17wt.% silicon, =5wt.% metals exclusive copper, iron and silicon contained in the incinerations ash and the balance iron. After the molten slag contg. the alloy is recovered, the slag is cooled and polarized by a water atomization method and the alloy slag is separated and recovered from the other polarized matter by magnetic sepn. Further, the alloy slag is used as the raw material for copper smelting, by which the copper and the noble metals contg. gold and silver are separated from the iron and silicon and are recovered.
